Fifty Shades of Sin

I came across this blog post a couple months ago.  But lately I've seen and heard more and more women reading or talking about reading Fifty Shades of Grey.  Sisters, please take time to read this blog posting before reading this best seller.

BTW, new blog post coming soon on recent events in my life.

  1. I read this article when it first came out. It's been very sad for me to see so many of my friends...sisters in Christ...reading these books. I have had a few fo my married friends (who are believers) say that they read them and they wouldn't recommend them for me since I'm single, but they felt it was okay for them since they are married. I don't agree at all. As the article says, smut is smut, and whether you are married or single, you are called to flee from lustful thoughts and to fill your mind with things that build up and make you more like Christ. Philippians 4:8 says, "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." I want to fill my mind (and my heart) with things that are pure, lovely, commendable, excellent and worthy of praise...not with things that distort sexual relationships from the way God intended for it to be (between a husband a wife, and in the privacy of the marriage bed). I hope more women will refrain from reading these books, and others like them, and I hope those who have already read them would put them aside and repent if they've lusted or sinned in any way because of having read them.

  2. Melanie, I so appreciate your comment. I have to say I hope that sisters who have read them also repent for just reading them. As I understand it, these books are soft or maybe hard porn. Watching or reading porn at any time, whether it leads you to lust or not, is a sin. Thanks for your input, Melanie!

  3. Hey Steph, I hope you have been keeping well. You need to come back and stay with us here...you keep disappearing on us. :)

I saw this book has been advertised a lot and I was curious about is, actually got interested since it is a series(I'm mad about series books) but I have this habit of reading reviews before I decide whether I should read a book or not. On one of the reviews, I read this and I quote, "Erotic, amusing, and deeply moving, the Fifty Shades Trilogy is a tale that will OBSESS you, POSSESS you, and stay with you FOREVER"

That quote felt like it was describing a demon that was on its marks waiting for my permission to come to my life to obsess me, possess me and stay with me forever. It made me think that if I was going to read the book, I would let that demon of lust into my life(erotic part of it) and it's going to stay with me forever. That was enough to scare me.

Well, I took it kinda literally then because I did not proceed to read other reviews...but by the look of things, looks like I wasn't wrong after all.

And while we are on books, how about a blog post on the books that encouraged you when you were single? You might as well ship them all to Kenya. Lol!

Okay, BRB let me read the blog post you have suggested and I can't wait to read your next blog post.

    Bless you!

  4. Tats, so sorry it had been a while on here. My life has been rather full lately. But believe me, I'm not going anywhere. I'm glad to hear you haven't read these books. Honestly Tats, I didn't read hardly any books on singleness when I was single. Reading books like that, christian living books, has never really been my thing. Instead I prefer to listen to a lot of good sermons. I also liked to go to certain conferences where I knew I would get good preaching. Sorry I'm not much help on the subjects of good books to read. Keep keeping on, my friend. Blessings to you!!

  5. That's okay Steph...but the blog will serve it's purpose anyway, no big deal about the books. Plus your book is coming up. :)

    Blessings to you too dear.
